Florida State Women’s Basketball is one team among 20 varsity sports at Florida State University. The women’s basketball team not only exceeds excellence on the court, making it to the Elite Eight in the 2015 NCAA Tournament, but they also work hard for the community of Tallahassee and give back to those in need. The partnership between FSU Women’s Basketball and Girls On The Run is a relationship the players and coaches, cherish.

Gamma Phi Beta Sorority has selected Girls on the Run as one of their philanthropic initiatives on a national level, as they aim to “build strong girls." We connect our community support efforts to our mission by partnering with organizations, such as Junior Achievement, the Miami HEAT's Read to Achieve Program and the Florida Health Literacy Grant. These partnerships allow us to address social challenges and improve education opportunities within Florida's communities. We're dedicated to fostering residents' professional growth with volunteer and community ethics programs.
Our community involvement has expanded quickly, much like the growth of Tallahassee. As a member of the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce, we’ve established deep roots in our community. Our annual Movers for Moms® campaign has helped countless women and families in our area. We seek to help those who may be battling homelessness or financial trouble by collecting and donating personal needs items to the HOPE Community of Big Bend Homeless Coalition. Each spring, we partner with area schools, apartment complexes and businesses to collect these much needed items, just in time for Mother’s Day.

Girls on the Run was named the first recipient of the Cigna Foundation’s World of Difference Grants, a program that awards funding to nonprofits that are committed to improving health equity in the area's of children’s wellness, senior care and women’s health. The grant has enabled Girls on the Run to increase the number of participants in the program throughout the United States and potentially expand the program internationally.
